Some say the history of man repeats itself - Ch. 4 - Why did the Chinese and Roman Empires collapse?
Amongst the reasons we see:

1. Collapse due to oversize - loss of economies
2. Tax evasion by the rich landowners
3. Tax burden falls heavily on to the poor
4. Rivalry in powerful elite factions

Sound familiar?

Interesting to realize that our view on Homos is historically myopic, and our knowledge on us is hyperbolic. We really only know the very very recent.

"World History" - An Objective View

OK, I am interested in how one openly and progressively gets one's head around the history of the world (actually the history of western man) in any one course let alone one in 10 weeks.  Should be fun if we have time to stop and think,..  Oh, BTW, what is the purpose?
